Emily Skye’s Top Tips for Makeup at the Gym
Fitness guru & James Cosmetics' owner Emily Skye gives us her top tips for wearing makeup at the gym!
Although I personally don’t like wearing makeup at the gym because I sweat so much, I know that a lot of women don’t want to go out into the world completely bare-faced. So here are my tips for keeping your makeup on during a workout.
Less is more, the more product that you wear the more the potential is to have it smudgy all over your face, so the important thing is to pick the key products that can make a big difference without having to layer too much on your skin.
Face - I would recommend a tinted moisturizer to give you some coverage but if you do want a foundation choose an oil free one so that your skin can breath during your workout. Often oil based foundations will trap your sweat which will lead to smearing and it will clog your pores. The Tarte Tarteguard Tinted Moisturizer is oil-free and gives a nice sheer to light coverage.
Eyes – Obviously waterproof Mascara is the best way to avoid raccoon eyes. It’s always a risk when you wear mascara so make sure that you use a waterproof version so you don’t have to worry. I like to only apply mascara to my top lashes as the bottom ones are more likely to smudge. I like the Tarte Lifted Sweatproof Mascara.
Lips – I think a balm or lip tint is the safes bet when it comes to adding a bit of colour to your lips and I am obsessed with Burt’s Bees Lip Tints, very moisturizing with a hint of colour and you don’t have to worry about it ending up smudged all over your cheek.
Brows – Although I don’t like wearing makeup at the gym I always want to make sure my eyebrows are on point and I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and Setting gel to make sure they stay in place.
